Inclusion Criteria:
* patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing clinically-indicated ablation
* either persistent or paroxysmal AF
Exclusion Criteria:
* decompensated heart failure;
* non-revascularized coronary ischemia
* LA diameter \> 60mm
* inability or refusal to provide consent
