* Admitted to the ICU
* Already receiving or needing insulin infusion for blood glucose control
Exclusion Criteria:
* Not critically ill (eating, not mechanically ventilated)
* Pregnant or breastfeeding
* Previous inclusion into the trial
* Included in other trial
* Moribund
* Diabetes coma
* No arterial line available
