Inclusion Criteria:
* consenting patients ≥ 65 years of age
* undergoing upcoming elective lower joint replacement surgery
Exclusion Criteria:
* planned ICU admission postoperatively
* uncorrected vision or hearing impairment
* limited use of the dominant hand
* inability to speak, read, or understand English
