* Patients \>= 18 years old undergoing total hip arthroplasty or hip hemiarthroplasty
Exclusion Criteria:
* Refusal of blood transfusions
* Surgeons utilizing "fast track" protocols (planned discharge on postoperative day 1 or 2 following surgery.)
