* age\>18 years
* patients scheduled for major abdominal surgery
* patients scheduled for general anesthesia
* expected surgery duration longer than 30 minutes
Exclusion Criteria:
* skin infection in the forehead
* upper airway anatomy alterations
* pre-existing oesophageal disease
