* Otosclerosis where surgery is planned
* Air / bone gap larger than 20 dB
* Normal middle ear status
Exclusion Criteria:
* Hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine
* Deafness on the other ear
* Stapedotomy previously performed on the ear
* Pregnancy
* Asthma
