Tobramycin is an antibiotic that has activity against common burn wound associated pathogens, such as Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, and its use is becoming increasingly relevant due to the increased incidence of bacterial resistance to currently utilized antibiotics. Once daily dosing of tobramycin has been safely and effectively used in the majority of infected patients for many years with the proposed benefits of optimized antibacterial activity and reduced nephrotoxicity compared to traditional dosing. But, the once daily dosing regimen has yet to be validated in the burn population. The purpose of this study is to validate the plausibility of once daily tobramycin dosing in the burn population with intent to determine a safe, effective, and efficient dosing regimen for this population.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': "Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adult burn patient (≥ 18 years old)\n* Total burn surface area less than 20%\n* At least 48 hours after the time of the initial burn injury event\n* Has a suspected or confirmed infection\n* Has been receiving antibiotic therapy for at least 24 hours\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Pediatric patients (\\< 18 years old);\n* Pregnant\n* Documented history of cochlear or vestibular injury\n* Creatinine clearance \\< 50 ml/min\n* Requiring any modality of dialysis\n* Has been receiving antibiotic therapy for longer than 72 hours\n* Known allergy or adverse reaction to aminoglycoside antibiotics\n* Known allergy or adverse reaction to sulfites\n* Diagnosis of Parkinson's disease or myasthenia gravis"}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT02269969', 'briefTitle': 'Once Daily Aminoglycoside Pharmacokinetics and Optimal Dosing in the Burn Population: A Prospective Study', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre'}, 'officialTitle': 'Once Daily Aminoglycoside Pharmacokinetics and Optimal Dosing in the Burn Population: A Prospective Study', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': '183-2014'}}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'EXPERIMENTAL', 'label': 'Once daily aminoglycoside', 'description': 'Once daily dosing of Tobramycin', 'interventionNames': ['Drug: Tobramycin']}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'Tobramycin', 'type': 'DRUG', 'armGroupLabels': ['Once daily aminoglycoside']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': 'M4N3M5', 'city': 'Toronto', 'state': 'Ontario', 'country': 'Canada', 'facility': 'Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 43.70643, 'lon': -79.39864}}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'Sandra Walker', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'SPONSOR_INVESTIGATOR', 'investigatorTitle': 'Clinician Scientist', 'investigatorFullName': 'Sandra Walker', 'investigatorAffiliation': 'Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre'}}}}
