Will prepare summaries of key findings from the in-depth interviews to review with advisory board members. To assess acceptability, will administer the Acceptability of Intervention Measure (4 items), Intervention Appropriateness Measure (4 items) and Feasibility of Intervention Measure (4 items). The measures use a 5-point Likert scale where 1 = completely disagree and 5 = completely agree and have demonstrated strong psychometric properties. Previous research has shown that head and neck cancer patients experiencing financial hardship have decreased overall and cancer specific survival. Using a financial intervention, Financial Compass, may be more effective than usual care in identifying and addressing financial hardship in patients with head and neck cancer.', 'detailedDescription': "PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:\n\nI. Examine head and neck cancer patients' experiences with financial hardship to understand barriers across the socioeconomic spectrum and inform intervention refinement. (Aim 1) II. Apply community-engaged intervention mapping to tailor the Financial Compass intervention to address the needs and experiences of head and neck cancer patients. (Aim 2) III. Conduct a pilot randomized control trial of Financial Compass to assess feasibility, acceptability and preliminary efficacy among head and neck cancer patients. (Aim 3)\n\nOUTLINE:\n\nAIM 1: Patients complete interviews on study for Financial Compass intervention development and refinement.\n\nAIM 2: Participants take part in a community advisory board and/or a health care delivery advisory board on study to discuss, develop and refine the Financial Compass intervention.\n\nAIM 3: Patients are randomized to 1 of 2 groups.\n\nGROUP I: Patients receive the Financial Compass intervention on study including a patient needs assessment, a tailored care pathway and weekly individualized navigation and support to access resources.\n\nGROUP II: Patients receive usual care on study including medical consultations and supportive care.\n\nAfter completion of study intervention, patients are followed up at week 12."}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* They have been diagnosed with head and neck cancer\n* Screen positive for financial hardship on the validated Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity (COST) measure\n* Are able to participate in English or Spanish\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adults unable to complete the process of informed consent\n* Adults whose primary language is not English or Spanish\n* Individuals who are not yet adults (i.e., infants, children, teenagers)\n* Unwilling or unable to follow protocol requirements'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT06896695', 'briefTitle': 'A Financial Intervention (Financial Compass) to Identify and Address Financial Hardship Among Head and Neck Cancer Patients, Financial Compass Trial', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute'}, 'officialTitle': 'Financial Compass: A Pilot Feasibility Study of a Novel Intervention to Identify and Address Financial Hardship Among Cancer Patients', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'I-4123124'}, 'secondaryIdInfos': [{'id': 'NCI-2025-01528', 'type': 'REGISTRY', 'domain': 'CTRP (Clinical Trial Reporting Program)'}, {'id': 'I-4123124', 'type': 'OTHER', 'domain': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute'}]}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'OTHER', 'label': 'Aim 1 (interview)', 'description': 'Patients complete interviews on study for Financial Compass intervention development and refinement.', 'interventionNames': ['Other: Interview']}, {'type': 'OTHER', 'label': 'Aim 2 (discussion)', 'description': 'Participants take part in a community advisory board and/or a health care delivery advisory board on study to discuss, develop and refine the Financial Compass intervention.', 'interventionNames': ['Other: Discussion']}, {'type': 'EXPERIMENTAL', 'label': 'Aim 3 Group I (Financial Compass intervention)', 'description': 'Patients receive the Financial Compass intervention on study including a patient needs assessment, a tailored care pathway and weekly individualized navigation and support to access resources.', 'interventionNames': ['Other: Financial Navigation', 'Other: Survey Administration']}, {'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'Aim 3 Group II (usual care)', 'description': 'Patients receive usual care on study including medical consultations and supportive care.', 'interventionNames': ['Other: Best Practice', 'Other: Survey Administration']}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'Best Practice', 'type': 'OTHER', 'otherNames': ['standard of care', 'standard therapy'], 'description': 'Receive usual care', 'armGroupLabels': ['Aim 3 Group II (usual care)']}, {'name': 'Discussion', 'type': 'OTHER', 'otherNames': ['Discuss'], 'description': 'Ancillary studies', 'armGroupLabels': ['Aim 2 (discussion)']}, {'name': 'Financial Navigation', 'type': 'OTHER', 'otherNames': ['Financial Navigation Program'], 'description': 'Receive the Financial Compass intervention', 'armGroupLabels': ['Aim 3 Group I (Financial Compass intervention)']}, {'name': 'Interview', 'type': 'OTHER', 'description': 'Ancillary studies', 'armGroupLabels': ['Aim 1 (interview)']}, {'name': 'Survey Administration', 'type': 'OTHER', 'description': 'Ancillary studies', 'armGroupLabels': ['Aim 3 Group I (Financial Compass intervention)', 'Aim 3 Group II (usual care)']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '14263', 'city': 'Buffalo', 'state': 'New York', 'status': 'RECRUITING', 'country': 'United States', 'contacts': [{'name': 'Elizabeth Bouchard', 'role': 'CONTACT', 'email': 'elizabeth.bouchard@roswellpark.org', 'phone': '716-845-8357'}, {'name': 'Elizabeth Bouchard', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR'}], 'facility': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 42.88645, 'lon': -78.87837}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Elizabeth Bouchard', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'SPONSOR'}}}}
