Roadblock/LC7 is one member of an ancient dynein light chain protein family conserved in nematode, fruit fly, mouse, and rat. The protein encoded by this gene is one of two human proteins that share sequence similarity with roadblock/LC7. Expression of this gene is up-regulated in hepatocellular carcinomas, suggesting that this gene may be involved in tumor progression. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
